Lasith Malinga is a slinging action fast bowler and Sri Lankan cricketer. He starts playing for Sri Lanka in 2004 and after that he becomes the backbone of Sri Lankan bowling lineup. Sri Lanka needs a fast bowler who can lead the bowling attack after the retirement of Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga perfectly fulfill that position. His unique bowling action made it nearly impossible for batsmen to score run against his bowling on fast pace. While playing for Sri Lanka he also made different and some unique World records. He is the only fast bowler who takes two hat tricks in the world cups (in 2007 & 20011). He is the fastest bowler who played for Sri Lanka and second fastest of the world. He is the only bowler who took 4 wickets on 4 balls in international cricket.

Currently, he is playing for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League and in IPL he is the leading wicket taker with 27 wickets in 2011 session. The captain of Mumbai Indian Sachin Tendulkar said in an interview Lasith Malinga played a key role in the excellent performance of Mumbai Indian in IPL. Malinga announced his retirement from test cricket on 22 April, 2011 but said he will continue playing One Day Internationals and T20 cricket.
